WHAT IS THE CORRECTIVE BBL PHOTO-FACIAL?
Our Corrective BBL Photo-Facial is designed to target and treat a variety of skin concerns, including pigmentation, sun damage, broken capillaries, redness, and rosacea. After completing your series of Corrective BBL Photo-Facials to address these primary cosmetic issues, you can progress to our Forever Young BBL Photo-Facial. Unlike the corrective approach of the initial treatment, the Forever Young BBL focuses on slowing the signs of aging. It does this by changing gene expression, promoting collagen and elastin production, and revitalizing your skin’s natural glow.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: The Base Pass
This step is what we call the base pass. We penetrate light energy into the skin using a specific filter and it is working deep in the skin to promote healthy skin, improve skin clarity, produce collagen, delay skin aging, and rejuvenate genes. This is the key step in what we call the Forever Young BBL Photo-Facial. This step makes skin brighter allowing light to reflect of your skin revealing your natural glow.
Step 2: The Corrective Step
This step is where we specifically target reds and/or brown in the skin. This is the corrective step targeting vessels, brown spots, erythema, redness, and sun damage.

First Study: Pulse Light Technology Study for Skin Aging
(Journal of Dermatologic Surgery 2000)
This study showed that using pulse light technology you can rejuvenated photo-damaged skin with no downtime.
The study included 49 people and skin biopsies where taken of treated and untreated skin on there forearms. The study revealed incredible results and changes in the skin.
BBL Treated skin showed improvements in fine lines and wrinkles, coarse wrinkles and pigmentation, also increases epidermal thickness and a reduction and elimination of inflammation which not only contributed to an overall appearance of redness in the skin but it was also negatively impacting the melanocytes causing undesirable skin tone. The treatments decreased elastosis and led to a more uniformed deposition of collagen.
Rejuvenation of Gene Expression Pattern of Aged Human Skin by BBL
(Stanford university - published in Journal of Investigative Dermatology 2013)
This study was very exciting and proved that BBL treatments can restore gene expression pattern of aged human skin to resemble young skin in over 2000 genes connected to rejuvenation and healthy aging. Plus more long term cumulative benefits overtime.
Once again they looked at the biopsies of both treated and untreated skin. The treated skin had only 3 treatments with the multiple pass BBL technique.
They compared to the skin of woman in there 70’s with those in there 20’s. A number of key genes in the 70 year old untreated skin biopsies were not being read like they are in young skin. These are connected to cell life, cell division, and suppression of tumours, and overall skin rejuvenation. BUT the biopsies of treated skin revealed that the genes had reverted back to younger genes and turned back on. Plus it turned OFF genes that are linked to accelerated aging.
The study revealed decreased elastosis, more information collagen deposition, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin clarity and tone, increased epidermal thickness and that BBL treatments restore gene expression of aged human skin to resemble younger skin. Older cells now behaving like younger cells once again. The power of Light is incredible! All this is achieved non-invasively.

BBL allows us to penetrate multiple waves lengths of light in a gentler more effective technique using multiple passes in our base step which has been proven to provide more enhanced results, form more collagen, gene expression stimulation in skin cells, improve skin clarity and tone along with brightening the skin. The older technology and method worked via intense blasts of light that did not provide optimal results and the enhanced benefits of gene expression and turning back the hands of time.
It is important to discontinue the use of prescription vitamin A products and acids one week prior to your treatment and one week post treatment.
Even though the downtime is minimal we recommend you do not have an important event within 7 days of your BBL Treatment.
We recommend having a microdermabrasion or HydraFacial treatment 7-10 days after your photo-facial to polish away the targeted pigmentation and enhance the overall results and appearance of your skin.
The downtime with Corrective BBL Photo-Facials is very minimal and makeup can be worn post treatments.
When treating hyper-pigmentation the targeted pigment will darken in color and begin to look like coffee granules on the skin. This will naturally exfoliate off over 7+ days. You can apply makeup post treatment.
There is a chance of swelling when stronger treatments are performed on the cheek and eye area. The swelling can last a couple of days if it does occur.
This depends on your skin needs and goals. Your SKN practitioner will determine this at your complimentary consultation. The average is 1-4 treatments.
