You can’t out supplement a poor diet or skincare routine; however, good quality supplements can help as an addition to your beauty and wellness goals when combined with these. Wellness and beauty are all about a combination of dietary and lifestyle factors to incorporate with consistency. Good quality natural supplements and the correct ones can provide amazing benefits for our wellness and beauty routine.
- Camu Camu Berry
Camu Camu is a berry that is my current favourite wholefood supplement of Vitamin C to include in my diet, mainly due to its naturally high levels of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is important in our diet for both beauty and health purposes. It helps with collagen/elastin production which plays a huge role in anti-aging. It is also an antioxidant that helps fight free radical damage that keeps our skin glowing and our immune system protected. In Addition, Vitamin C plays a large role in hormone balance, as it is also necessary for progesterone production, which many women are deficient in. Women need adequate progesterone to help with stress reduction, sleep, depression, hormonal acne, PMS, libido, and metabolism. It’s important to note that when stress is high vitamin C gets depleted fast, so it’s very important for us to re-store our vitamin C levels. Reducing stress is so important for health and glow! - Collagen/Gelatin
Collagen & Gelatin has been all the rage the past few years, but for good reason! I’ve been incorporating it daily for years and I have truly noticed a changed in my skin and my clients skin that I have recommended it to. Taking collagen/gelatin supplements are great for our own production of collagen. Maintaining our collagen levels is important to keep our skin firmer, reduce wrinkles, keep our hair/nails strong and healthy, and it is even important for our joint and gut health. I switch up between marine collagen and bovine to get different benefits. I love adding collagen to my coffee, teas, and smoothies and you can make gelatin gummies for a delicious blood sugar balancing beauty snack as it is also a great source of protein! - Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that is incredible for its beauty, wellness, and hormone balancing properties. Vitamin E is truly special because it helps to detoxify toxic fats and substances that we may have accumulated from food or environmental factors. Vitamin E can be a greatly beneficial vitamin to balance hormones for women, as it can help detoxify estrogen from the body if it is too high or out of balance with progesterone. Women who are estrogen dominant can experience things like weight gain, bloating/digestive issues, cellulite, acne, PMS, and higher stress levels. Estrogen is not bad, and women do need enough estrogen for hormone balance as well but the problem is if it is not in the right amount and properly balanced with progesterone. - Greens Powders
If you are someone that has a hard time getting enough greens through your diet, a quality greens powder is great to have on hand. Greens have so many beauty and wellness benefits and help with cleansing and detoxification. I love to have a greens powder in case I’m out of my own fresh greens to add to my smoothies or simply in water for a nutrient boost. Just make sure you’re choosing organic greens powders to get the most benefits and avoid any unnecessary pesticide residue that is not the best for our health and glow. - Milk Thistle
When it comes to health and beauty, we always want to support our liver at its best. Milk thistle is one of my favourite herbs to include to keep my liver functioning well. When our liver is burdened from environmental, dietary, or emotional stressors, it will produce more inflammation in our bodies and lead to health issues. Acne can also be caused from inflammation and an unsupported liver which is why I like to recommend it for anyone when I suspect their acne or other skin problems like eczema can be eased by liver and anti-inflammatory support. Milk thistle also has antioxidant properties which can protect your skin from sun damage and premature ageing.
